Making a Connection

Getting better is rarely - if ever - a one step journey. So it should come as no surprise that a single acupuncture treatment, although beneficial, isn't a cure-all.

Muscles are flooded with extra blood and oxygen during a treatment. For some people (especially those with muscle pain) it might take 1-2 treatments for the body to absorb that increase of blood and oxygen. Before this happens and the patient starts feeling better, there might be some discomfort as the body adjusts.

Also, when direct needling is performed (needling where there is pain) some people may experience slight discomfort upon insertion. Usually it is short-lived, and the point starts feeling better after only a moment or two. However, if that is not the case, I simply remove the needle and adjust its positioning. My goal is always to have a treatment be as pain-free and pleasant as possible.

Discomfort is usually simply a disconnection between the mind and body. With acupuncture, I strive to help a patient strengthen that connection, increase blood flow, and encourage overall balance. Patience is key for optimal results!
