More than a Tongue and a Pulse

We’ve often heard the phrase, "the eyes are the window to the soul" ... well, I’d say the tongue is the window to the body - because the state of both your physical and emotional health are reflexed in its appearance. With that being said, it’s no wonder that assessing the tongue is traditionally used to dictate an acupuncture treatment. The best way to get a tongue diagnosis is first thing in the morning prior to brushing teeth, eating, drinking, etc. Personally, I also like to pay attention to a patient’s mannerisms, facial expressions, posture, voice, and eye contact.

No one person is the same. No one is just like you. So no one is going to get the exact same treatment you do. I try to make a thorough, customized diagnosis in order to give you the best possible treatment. To do this, I will look at your complexion - like the shadowing under your eyes and the dryness of your skin. I’ll focus on your mood, on whether or not you seem irritable, anxious, or more at peace. I’ll pay attention to how you speak to me - the strength of both your voice and your eye contact. I’ll even take note of how you’re sitting and moving, because even the smoothness of your gait or the stiffness of your posture can give me clues about your health and happiness.

Acupuncture treatments are precise and custom-made. Your health, your wellness, and your betterment are my priority. If you have a deficiency, a weakness, an ailment, or are in need of nourishment, I’ll be sure to find out, and even more sure to give you the best assistance I can.
