The Biggest Reason Why
About 10 years ago, I worked as a radiation therapist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. While there, I got to know a wonderful anesthesiologists from Children’s Memorial Hospital who would give her patients acupuncture either before and after chemotherapy or before and after surgery in an effort to combat side effects. She also treated the pare
nts of patients for the myriad of emotional issues that often come from caring for a child with cancer.
The anesthesiologist loved ear acupuncture. At the time, I was having back problems, so she convinced me to give acupuncture a try. I cannot tell you just how glad I am that she did! One ear treatment and I was totally hooked!
The journey for me to become an acupuncturist has been a long one. But I truly love it. The biggest reason why is because acupuncture doesn’t put people in a “box”. It allows me to customize treatments. It’s not like popping a pill ... acupuncture is talored-made for each patient. And, it gives me no greater pleasure than to able to help someone feel better whether they've had physical or emotional pain.
I admit - at first - I thought the entire concept of acupunture was crazy. I really didn’t think any of it would work! But on a personal level of healing from receiving treatments, and now on a professional level from giving treatments, I can tell you with absolute confidence: it helps, it works, it heals.
